The Best Boat Route for East Mallorca: Cala Ratjada to Canyamel

A boat route along Mallorca's east coast — Cala Agulla, Cala Mesquida, the Llevant natural park coves and Canyamel — completing the island's coastal route series.

The Best Boat Route for East Mallorca: Cala Ratjada to Canyamel

East Mallorca closes out the coastal route series, and it brings something the other four routes don't have as much of: genuinely undeveloped coastline, protected inside the Llevant natural park, with no easy road access to most of it.

Cala Ratjada, Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida

Leaving Cala Ratjada, the route passes Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida — both reachable by road and correspondingly busier in summer, but a useful early stop before the coastline gets wilder further south.

The Llevant natural park coves

Continuing south into the Llevant natural park, Cala Torta and S'Arenalet d'Aubarca are the standouts — beaches with essentially no road access, sitting inside protected nature reserve land. That lack of easy access is exactly what keeps them quiet; reaching them by boat is one of the few practical ways to see them properly rather than as a distant view from a hiking trail.

Canyamel — the calmer finish

South of the natural park, Canyamel is a sheltered bay with clear water — a regular stop on local boat tours for good reason, and a calmer note to end the route on after the more exposed coves further north.

Completing the island's coastal picture

East Mallorca joins the south, southwest, northwest and north routes as the fifth and final piece of the island's coastline — flat dune beaches, moderate cliffs and pine forest, tight village-adjacent coves, a dramatic headland and lighthouse, and now protected nature reserve coast with barely any development. Together they cover the island without repeating the same scenery twice, and each works as a standalone half-day or full-day depending on the trip.

Planning the day

Cala Ratjada to Canyamel suits a half-day comfortably, or a full day with more time in the Llevant natural park coves. See the Mallorca destination guide for the rest of the island's anchorages, or get in touch with your dates and we'll build the route around what you want to see.
